Agricultural Gypsum

In an effort to continue to provide quality, effective and economical soil amendments that can continue to deliver increased yields, Vita Marketing Group, LLC has a source of gypsum that will compliment any fertility program. Gypsum helps reduce the crusting that inhibits seedling emergence and decreases wasteful water runoff. It also helps expand the effective root zone by neutralizing the damaging aluminum barrier found in many Delta soils.

What is Gypsum?

Gypsum loosens crusted soils

Gypsum can loosen hard-pan soils such as clay or gumbo type soils.

Roughly 23% calcium and 19%
sulfur in its pure form, gypsum
comes today not only from mines
and coal-fired power plants, but
also from recycled casting materials
and drywall and as a by-product of
citric acid production and phosphorus
mining. Importantly, gypsum is
also about 200 times more soluble

than agricultural lime, or calcium
carbonate, allowing it to move readily
down the soil profile, where it
can provide nutrients to deep plant
roots and help alleviate subsoil
problems.
